Max is a composer, cellist and pianist living and working in South Wales.  He studied composition with William Mival and cello with Lowri Blake as a Foundation Scholar at the Royal College of Music in London and is currently pursuing a PhD in composition at Cardiff University under the supervision of Anthony Powers.  Max’s music has been performed widely by groups and artists including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Gemini, the London Contemporary Music Group, Music Theatre Wales, Ensemble Cymru, the Composers’ Ensemble, Amy Dickson, Jeremy Huw Williams, Simon Wallfisch and the PM Ensemble.  He founded two new music ensembles in 2006: CUCE and MWG, and plays with both as cellist in addition to his work with the critically acclaimed Cardiff University Contemporary Music Group.  As a pianist, Max is usually found in the pit as Musical Director for Cardiff’s Class Act Youth Theatre, which he co-founded in 2000
