David Petersen
Artist, Craftsman, Writer, Musician, Actor, Broadcaster and cultural entrepreneur
As an Artist he has shown his work in over 300 hundred exhibitions and has carried out
numerous commissions throughout Wales and the World.
He is considered to be one of Europe’s leading Blacksmiths and has demonstrated his craft
internationally, from Russia to America and all anvils in between.
He has been commissioned to write a book on the History of Blacksmithing, having
previously written many radio and television programmes.
For the past 40 years he has played folk music in a group and made several CDs with them.
He has acted in many films, both for the TV and big screen.
He has presented over 70 TV programmes on Art & Culture, and many radio series for BBC.
For 30 years he was the leader of the Welsh Delegation to the Lorient Interceltic Festival.
He has produced and contributed to many Celtic music and dance events worldwide and
continues to be heavily involved with major cultural events both here in Wales and worldwide
[In 2002 he produced a piece of Musical Theatre written by Alan Osborne
called ‘Coeden Dan / Firetree’ which was given it’s world premiere in Lorient ,Brittany to
great international acclaim.]
