Darya, a native of Merthyr Tydfil, graduated from the University of York with a degree in music and education, followed by a postgraduate diploma in music from Cardiff University.  She then moved into the world of education and is currently head teacher of both a primary school and special school in Ebbw Vale.  Darya is the accompanist of Dowlais Male Choir, Cytgord and Cor Merched Cwm Cynon, and sings with Con Voce, a mixed choir based in Merthyr.
