Amy Slater completed a BMus at Lancaster University in 2007, specialising in voice and performance. She was a core member of the University’s chamber choir and was also part of Preston Opera Society appearing in their production of ‘Carmen’.

Amy’s diverse musical interests have led her to work in different musical genres such as electronic music, and in 2008 performed at the LICA-MANTIS Electro- acoustic Festival.

Although classically trained Amy has a keen interest in folk music and performs regularly with folk musicians and at folk music venues. She also appears in Newport based Hip Hop band ‘Urban Legends’ singing with them in live performances and on their recorded work.  

After University Amy completed a tutor training course with Community Music Wales which has led her into teaching music workshops in schools in Newport on behalf of the SPARK Project and The Riverfront Arts Centre. She also has experience working with after school youth groups on song writing projects and community choirs around South Wales.

Amy hopes to pursue her carrier in singing and performing, both in folk music and classical singing. She also hopes to continue teaching workshops and to build a Community Choir in Cardiff.
